Since LIS is deeply interested in the career of its students it provides a comprehensive careers & college placement |
| to all LIS students in years 10,11 and 12 .This process begins in grade 10 with a testing and interview- based vocational evaluation of each individual student. We encourage our students to choose from wide range of courses, colleges/ universities and countries around the world. |
In Grade 11 we prepare our students for tertiary entrance examinations eg. PSAT, SAT, ACT, SSAT, IELTS and TOEFL and enable them to choose their course, college/university, and the process continues into grade 12th too. The majority of college applications are completed in semester 1 of grade 12 (most of these are to European and North American institutions). Applications to other parts of the world eg UK, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, India etc continue in semester 2.
An experienced college & career counselor with full time administrative support is available to assist current LIS students in selecting courses, colleges and the application process. |

| Admissions: |

Our college Counselor corresponds with post- secondary institutions and other bodies about the admission of LIS graduates, writes official recommendations and school reports as required by student’s seeking admission to post-secondary institutions. |

| Test: |
|
- Organizes and conducts workshops on Career Interest Inventory based on Myers Briggs work.
|
- Organizes and administers the SAT I and II, PSAT, SSAT and ACT tests.
|
- Administers standardized tests and informs about new testing techniques and/or materials, when required , orders or writes new tests relevant to the needs of the school.
|
- Organizes and arranges SAT preparation classes for Math and English.
|
- Corresponds with testing agencies such as College Boards Admissions Testing Programme, American College Testing Programme, and Test of English as a Foreign Language, Tests other than TOEFL are organized by parents or students.

| Counsels |
|
- Acts as a resource person for staff , and parents..
|
- Counsels students in academic matters.
|
|
|
| |
| Updates: |
|
- Maintains and updates books, magazines and other resources for careers and college office library.
|
- Obtains up-to-date information on international basis, about colleges, universities and other post-secondary institutions on careers, their requirements and outlooks.
|
|
|
| |
| Informs: |
|
- Works closely with teachers, other Counselors and staff advisors in providing career education and academic guidance for Middle and High School students.
|
- Organizes and leads training workshops in academic guidance and recommendation writing for LIS staff and others.
|
|
|
| |
| Communicates: |
|
- Writes and sends out newsletters to students and parent's from grades 8-12 annually.
|
|
|
|
| |
| Interview: |
|
- Interviews all grade 10 students in second semester before Grade 11 registration to ensure that the students opt for correct courses and levels in grades 11 and 12.
|
- Interviews all grade 11 students at least twice during second semester.
|
- Completes a questionnaire for all grade 11 students and gives them a list of colleges for application.
|
|

| Visits Colleges & Universities: |
- Acts as a resource person for staff ,and parents.
